the harsh reality of life

tis happened today by total accident..
while i was hoping some lame music video
on mtv would help me fill my time tis evening

however,
wad i got was more than a girl singing
while dancing wiz an umbrella
=.=

the program dat was on..
was totally unexpected
and it was more than just a mere show
to me,
it was like a shot of awareness
of the harsh reality around us.

It was a showcase of mtv's artiste of the month,
James Blunt...
and his return to Kosovo after seven years..

first,
a little history..
to shed a little light on his reasons to do so..

the liberation of Kosovo
from the Serbians
by the NATO forces
was commenced in 1999

as the people of Kosovo
was exploited, murdered, and mass masacred
by the Serb forces

James Blunt served as a captain
in the British Royal Armed Forces
at dat time

he was one of the first NATO battalion dat
entered Kosovo
leading 30,000 men on the way

NATO forces managed to push back the Serbian
military.
However,
the aftermath was irreversible...

so,
back to his return to Kosovo
as his jet touched down on the Pristina airstrip,
the two worlds of James Blunt (that of international pop star
and
that of a former British Army Captain)
came together for a unique, emotional experience.

the artist reunites with
several of the young Albanian interpreters
who had worked with his troop
during the liberation of Kosovo.
together they retrace their steps,
visiting several outlying towns
James the solider was charged with protecting,
including the site of a mass grave his unit
happened to stumble upon during his time there.

during his visit,
James did a special performance
for the NATO troops still station there

the sharp contrast between Kosovo
past
and
present
reveals a country much changed
and improved through the efforts of NATO troops,
yet remains possessed
by a distinct haunting rawness
from the still-recent atrocities committed there.

but there's no doubt dat things would be much worse
without the help of the NATO forces
